Big Island Shells?

guess there's not too much traffic here but I figure I might as well try my question.

I'm going to Hawaii (The Big Island) on my honeymoon. Anybody know where there are good beaches with nice shells? They don't have to be extra special, I just like to do a bit of non-professional beachcombing....

    I have never been to Hawaii, but I was told that it is illegal to remove seashells from the beach in Hawaii.

      really? i definitely heard you shouldn't remove lava rocks or black sand b/c its bad luck, so I did a search on seashells, but didn't come up with anything. darn, that would be a bummer...

        There are specific cruises that go to Hawaii just for shelling, so I would think that it would indeed be legal to get some while you are there.

          well, i looked a little more since yesterday and i did see that on the nature preserves it is illegal to take anything. but other areas seem ok.

          so far i've read Pololu Beach, Kona; road to the sea; & Kona Coast State Park might have good beachcombing.
